Timberline Building Systems specializes in general contracting, site infrastructure, stormwater management, and erosion control. We strive to provide conceptual design and pricing on all projects in less than a week and provide tools like virtual reality tours of your project to better your experience with building design.
As a Crew Leader, you’ll oversee daily jobsite operations, coordinate tasks with your team, and ensure projects are completed on time and up to company standards. The right candidate will have strong experience in concrete installation (such as flatwork, curbing, setting forms, mixing, pouring, and finishing) and be confident operating construction and landscaping equipment including skid steers, mini-excavators, trenchers, and other related machinery.
Duties & responsibilities:
- Lead trail crews in the construction of singletrack trails, mountain bike trails, flow trails, pump tracks, and other recreational infrastructure etc.
- Interpret project plans, alignments, and technical specifications with the Superintendent prior to and throughout construction
- Participate in pre-project logistics and field layout, including flagging, clearing corridors, and GPS tracking
- Direct daily work of 2–5 crew members, ensuring safety, quality, and production goals are met in remote or rugged environments
- Operate and supervise the use of hand tools and mechanized equipment (mini-excavators, compactors, chainsaws, etc.) appropriate to trail building
- Maintain and troubleshoot trail building equipment and tools as needed
- Perform quality control inspections during all phases of construction to ensure sustainable trail standards and client expectations are met
- Track and report crew time, materials used, daily progress, and any jobsite challenges or deviations
- Uphold and enforce company safety procedures and environmental best practices on all trail projects
- Serve as a point of contact on-site for subcontractors, volunteers, clients, or land managers when appropriate
- Provide mentorship and on-the-job training to trail crew members
- Participate in cross-training and assist other departments as needed (e.g., snow removal or general construction)
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in trail building, outdoor construction, or similar field-based work, with 1+ years in a leadership or crew lead role
- Strong knowledge of sustainable trail construction techniques (cut-and-fill, insloping/outslope, drainage, technical features, armoring)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, trail alignments, and maps (including use of GPS and flagging techniques)
- Proficient in the use and maintenance of trail tools: McLeods, Pulaskis, rock bars, etc., and small machinery (mini-excavators, power carriers)
- Comfortable working in remote terrain and adverse weather for extended periods
- Strong communication and leadership skills with ability to direct and motivate a crew
- Valid Colorado driver’s license with clean driving record
- Willingness to travel for extended stays to remote job sites across Colorado or the Mountain West
Desired Qualifications:
- Wilderness First Aid or CPR certification
- Chainsaw certification or experience with forestry tools
- Experience building mountain bike-specific trail features (berms, rollers, drops)
- Familiarity with GPS software or trail mapping tools (Avenza, Gaia, etc.)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish highly desirable
- Experience working with municipalities, land managers, or parks departments a plus
